Dallas/ Fort Worth Refugee Business Development Center

ILAD’s DFW Business Development Center equips refugees with the tools and coaching needed to launch and run their own businesses.

Dallas/Fort Worth is one of the largest areas for legal refugee resettlement in the nation. Refugees arriving in DFW come from all over the world, fleeing oppression and war, hopeful for a better life in the United States. They are also wildly entrepreneurial and resilient.

However, because of language and culture barriers, refugees often find it necessary to take jobs below their skill level in order to make a living. Starting a business can be a path towards dignified work and support for their families.

Which means there is considerable need for services supporting refugees, especially in business training. This is where we step in.

Here are some distinctive elements of our program:

Contextualized & Accessible business training

Utilizing technology, we efficiently put resources and learning content in the client’s language

Coaches hired from within the communities we serve

1 on 1 coaching, guidance and support throughout the refugee client’s journey from ideation into ownership

3 phases towards business ownership
